What Addis Herald is

Addis Herald gathers the news that Ethiopian channels publish on Telegram and turns it into one clear story per event, in English and Amharic, with every source shown.

It is an independent, non-commercial project. It is not affiliated with any of the channels it cites, any government or any political party, and it carries no advertising.

How it works

Every two hours it reads the public posts of the Telegram news channels listed below. Posts about the same event, from any channel and in any language, are merged into one story.

Each story shows who covered it: state media, independent outlets, opposition voices and foreign channels, with a label explaining how each channel is run, and a link to every original post.

Top Stories are ranked by how much a story matters to Ethiopia, how many different kinds of outlets reported it, and how recent it is.

How we use AI

Google's Gemini model does the newsroom work: it filters out advertising, groups posts about the same event, writes the headlines, summaries and key facts in both languages, labels channels, and helps choose the Top Stories and the daily brief.

Summaries are written only from what the channels posted. They are published automatically, without a human editor reviewing each one first, so the original posts linked on every story remain the record.

Editorial standards

Summaries are neutral and attribute every claim to its source. They never add facts the sources did not report, and never take sides.

Conflict and violence are reported as plain, attributed facts without graphic detail. Distressing photos are blurred until the reader chooses to see them.

We show a headline, a short summary and one image, and link back to the channel. We never republish full posts or videos.

Corrections and requests

If a summary is wrong, a label is unfair, or you run a channel and want different credit or to be left out, contact us. We correct errors on the same page and handle channel requests promptly.

Privacy

No accounts, no advertising cookies and no tracking IDs. Your settings stay on your device. We count readers anonymously, once per device per day with no personal data, and use Cloudflare's cookie-free Web Analytics.
