Ethiopia's deforestation fell 70% in a decade, according to figures cited by Sputnik

Annual forest loss fell from up to 92,000 hectares to 28,000 hectares between the Ethiopian years 2005 and 2015 (2012/13 to 2022/23), a 70% drop, according to World Resources Institute data cited by Sputnik Ethiopia, while government reports put forest cover at 23.6%, up from 17.2%. The Green Legacy programme, with more than 48 billion seedlings planted, is credited with much of the gain.
